Douchebag of the Day (6/26/2011)

Starting a new feature here on the blog(s).  This one featuring…the douchebag(ess if a female) of the day.  Pretty self-explanatory.  If I find someone acting a mess, being ridiculous, outright stupid, or any combination of those and other fitting words, you get a spot in my blog.  You should be so honored.  Honestly, I could devote an entire wing to Scott Walker, but I’ve already ripped him a new one (like he ripped me a new one financially).  At any rate, let’s get it started, no?

Today’s douchebag?  Why Catholic Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you may have heard that NY has just passed a bill that legalizes gay marriage in their fair state (the 6th such state).  Which of course has many people (see: Crazed idiots) crying foul that these heathens would be allowed the holy ceremony of marriage. Arguments will fly that “MARRIAGE IS ONLY FOR A MAN AND A WOMAN!” and the always popular “IF TWO GUYS ARE ALLOWED TO GET MARRIED, THEN WHY CAN’T I MARRY MY DOG?  I LOVE MY DOG, DOES THAT MEAN I CAN MARRY HIM?”  (Caps added for effect, and accuracy.).

Well, our hero, Tim Dolan, Archbishop, had a few choice quotes following the passage of this bill.  He worries about the impact that the passage of this bill will have on the “parameters of marriage and the family dynamic.”

"We worry that both marriage and the family will be undermined by this tragic presumption of government in passing this legislation that attempts to redefine these cornerstones of civilization," the state's Catholic bishops said in a joint statement released late Friday. It was signed by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan and seven other bishops.

Yes, because massive divorce rates all the healthy family dynamics going on aren’t a problem at all.  Things are peachy!!!!

Asked what his message was for the gay community, Dolan said Sunday morning, "I tell the gay community I love you very much, and every single morning when I say my prayers, I pray for (the) health and happiness of everyone in New York.

I’m guessing by that he means he prays for the souls of “fags” that are clearly going to hell, like the heathens they are.

"I'm very sorry that our opponents succeeded in reducing this to anti-gay sentiment," he said. "It's not. It's pro-marriage, it's not anti-gay."

That’s all.  It’s not anti-gay.  Just pro-marriage!!!!  Well I mean, if you aren’t allowing gays to get married under your watch though, isn’t that technically not equality and thus, anti-gay?  I mean I’m just saying.

But, he said, there was "sadness and disappointment" when the bill passed.

Hmmm.  Not anti-gay, yet sadness and disappointment when the ruling comes down.  Yet, I’m guessing they will still have a stronger reaction to this ruling than they did to all those accusations of child molestation in the Catholic ranks.….hmmm…

Congrats, Tim Dolan, you are today’s douchebag of the day!

The Ambitions of a Crazy Person (HINT–It’s me)

(From March-April 2011)  Well hello there Peepulation!  It has been awhile since our last visit.  Probably Februaryish?  It has been a crazy time in the world of yours truly….but it has for a good majority of the kind folk of Wisconsin.

I want to get the “unpleasantness” out of the way now.  The situation involving our lovely government and our dictator (as I call him) has been…stressful.  I do not like a certain person.  I do not like this person because he has vilified me as a state worker (even though he did thank me for my hard work before kicking me square in the balls).  Don’t get me wrong.  I KNOW we are in a tough time economically (unless you are rich, in which case you are flourishing right now).  I know I’m fairly well off.  But guess what?  I’ve earned my paycheck.  I’ve paid my dues.  And for some dipshit like that googly eyed mother f***er to come in and start throwing his weight around under the (self-admitted) false premise of “fiscal responsibility" is horse shit.

I hate the fact that so many people seem blind to the big picture.  I realize people are going to have their beliefs.  That’s great, free country.  Have at it.  I am not a political person (for the most part).  I have my beliefs, but politics are so f***ed up and partisan that it is easy to get lost in the debate.

Right now I’m actually talking to my good friend Tony.  We are discussing how we both still care about each other and wanted to make it clear even through all the political shouting and through opinions of related parties.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with everyone and will argue and make my point.  And I may lose my cool and throw out some words that I don’t actually mean.  Well I may mean them but I don’t mean to attack people personally (unless of course I get attacked personally Smile with tongue out ).  However, in the grand scheme of things, we are still people.  Even though Dear Leader may not agree…I do still care about people.  I try not to hate over politics.  Politics are ugly.

That being said, I get frustrated easily.  I know there are idiots and narrow-minded people on both sides of the political landscape.  In this case, it frustrates me when certain groups of people have vilified state workers as being “the haves.”  This is ridiculous.  Yes, we have decent benefits.  But guess what?  We aren’t making HUGE amounts of money.  I’m actually making under 50K with these cuts.  Most people in my profession are making (rough guess) 33% higher amounts of money.  And this seems to be the case for many of my colleagues and those in the state with degrees.  Just the way the trend goes.  The public scene just can’t keep up with the private scene in trying to keep talented people (not counting myself in that group).  Are there outliers?  Hell yes.  But you can’t sit there and tell me that there aren’t outliers in the private industry as well.

Same argument for those who say “good, shut down the unions!”  Yes they feed money to certain candidates on the left.  You are telling me that corporations don’t clearly give money to those on the right?  Really?  Have you seen the top 10 contributions list?  Only 3 were unions.  The rest were corporations, and they gave to people on the right.  (I’ll post a link later.  It is past 1am and I’m just on a roll).

Oh yes, and I LOVE the idiots (yes, I’m being crude here but it fits) that use references like “working class” and “taxpayers” as if us state workers don’t fit into either of those categories.  SPOILER ALERT.  We are.  Just because we work for the state doesn’t mean we don’t pay taxes and it doesn’t mean we don’t work hard or are automatically not in the working class.  People that say that are straight up ignorant and/or neophytes.

Oh, and I LOVE the commenters on JSOnline and other news sites.  Comment sections on the internet seem to be the cesspools of the world wide web.  I mean the vast majority of people (again on both sides) are straight up dumb.  Sure I get a giggle out of reading certain comments.  But when you get people complaining about “OOOO why are you commenting during work hours on OUR (inferring that a state worker is wasting time), get back to work!”  Are you f***ing kidding me?  You are commenting on that exact piece of writing.  Who the f*** are you to comment?  Pot meet kettle.

At any rate….this is why I hate politics.  It just gets me riled up and at the end of the day, what good is it?  It all comes down to who has the money.  Which is kind of bulls*** but it is never going to change.  In an ideal world, both sides could coexist and actually work towards a greater good and not towards special interests, but guess what, that day is never coming.  Instead I get to deal with a dictator that (along with his minions) will just do what he wants to grab as much power as possible and doesn’t care what lines he crosses or what bridges get burned.  All I can say is karma is a b****.  And there I go, losing my sense of decorum again.  *Deep Breaths*
